Великобритания
Добавлен 2 янв 2015
Florian Gadsby is a ceramicist working with stoneware and porcelain in North London - here you'll find videos that show process, how pottery is thrown and finished and finally glazed and kiln fired. The videos here show the processes behind his work, such as the throwing and trimming of tableware and more sculptural pieces.

I restock my online shop around 3/4 times a year, with about 300-400 pieces a time, if you'd like to receive a newsletter about when these go live you can sign up to my newsletter on my website, (www.floriangadsby.com/newsletter).
I also leave the shop page online, even though it appears as sold out, it usually sells out in a few minutes time, just to give you an idea of what's available and the price range, (www.floriangadsby.com/shop).

The Most Popular Pots I Make
Miniature jars are the subject of this week's video, from throwing the components, trimming them all to fit, bisque firing them, waxing them, glazing them and finally reduction firing the tiny vessels to 1290ºC. Phew. Hopefully this video, with all its sped-up segments, give you a good idea of all the sheer repetition there is when creating pottery like this. It's all worth it though, as these are some of my favourite pots I've made in a while.
Thanks for watching!

Here's this week's ASMR Edition of my latest video! Using the Fibonacci Sequence to Make Pottery

Using the golden ratio is a great way of scaling pots up and down whilst retaining a beautiful progression in size between them, and that's what I'm doing this week as I make a group of bud vases on the potter's wheel. It's the ratio I use to determine the weights of clay used, thereafter it's all down to me, as I try my best to replicate the smaller forms ever larger and larger. All of that, a...

This week, I'm trimming the bowl thrown in my previous upload. If you'd prefer to watch the fully narrated edition, which discusses each step in detail, together with reviewing the new tungsten carbide trimming tools you see me unwrap, you can find it here: ruclips.net/video/QN_CBiKcAdY/видео.html This is the ASMR edition, with no narration, only the natural sounds from the workshop. Throwing A Narrow Footed Angular Bowl - ASMR Edition

This week, I'm throwing a particularly tricky shape. It's a bowl with a narrow foot, overhanging walls and a stepped rim section. If you'd prefer to get a much clearer understanding of what I'm thinking throughout this process, I suggest watching the NARRATED version, found here: ruclips.net/video/z7U-5OpXnNY/видео.html This is the ASMR edition, with no narration, only the natural sounds from t...
How to Pack and Ship Teapots SAFELY
Просмотров 10 тыс.14 дней назад
After a week of intense packaging, it only made sense to create a video like this. This time, I'm demonstrating how I wrap my teapots so that they survive their journeys across the globe. There's a kick test... a stand test too, all in order to see how strong the parcel is. This particular box might be a little over-the-top, but as most couriers don't insure ceramics, I can't afford breakage to...

My thumbs bend like that too, freaks people out hehe >:D it’s a type of hyper mobility which is correlated with neurodivergence

Please try wabi sabi 🙌 method
I'm that old meme of a skeleton at the computer "Me waiting for the fallout reference"
Wait for they're coffee pots?
0:43 Did you just play some light jazz?
To those wondering why these defects warrant destruction of the piece: these items are meant to be used like a normal piece of glassware, but because the glaze has separated, the piece is not food-safe. These cracks and bare fired clay can cause water to seep into the piece and breed bacteria and mold.
How do u recycle the used clay? Can u show us that? Pls? ❤
😬
Forbidden milk
Of course you have beautiful calligraphy like handwriting!
Have you ever considered getting a narrating gig or something? Your voice is beautiful
If you have ever recycled clay, you know that crap smells AWFUL!! Scrubbing your hands with dawn dish soap doesn't get the smell out. 😭
I’m so glad you’re reusing them thank you
The one with the spotty glaze actually looked super pretty.
Art
I want to eat the pieces
omg this sucks
I love it!! It’s pretty!
What does Nuka even mean, I feel embarrassed for instantly thinking of Nuka-Cola
Mmmm...red velvet cake
Perdón pero para que se rectifique mejor tenés que poner la tapa en la mesa con el cono hacía arriba y con el pote agarrándolo boca abajo lo giras así se hacen los asientos osea asentar o rectificar dos piezas para que hermane diferencias
This is insanity, why would you do this? You're a monster
Дрожь по телу от этого скрежета, бррр
Fun fact, they kept some of the grafiti that was on the walls as a little part of the history section
You should try that with different clays to see if you get different adhesion and tempurature ranges. Not all clay is the same right maybe changing that viable would help you.
That’s some wagyu clay
That is the rawest piece of not meat I’ve ever seen
Hey! Mixing glaze with your bare hand is really unsafe. Several of the chemicals can be absorbed through the skin. Use a stirrer or wear gloves to protect yourself. Stay safe!
These really are darling. I love seeing the firing process and the glaze transformation. The glassy like crackle is soo soo pretty. I also liked the larger version of these in the background. I feel they'd hold flour and rice so nicely.
Made it to the end as always
Those are Bison tools and the original maker of these is Paul Probuka, not some kid.
The footwell thingy also helps with cold drinks keeping the condesation from "gluing" the entire base of the cup to the table. Idk if anyone else knows what i mean. Its like slicks vs all seasons but in reverse
After 8 weeks, I still could not turn a pot, its so hard.
Like nails on a chalkboard
These would be great tor drinking Nuka Cola...
They are super nice! What brand of clay is that? :)
"i press the rim in with a wetted finger " story of my life

smh, he doesn't even use a 31% 69% chromium berylium mix of filings
It's so nice to look at people actually appreciating young talent. Here, in our culture, people tend to down upon young creative minds. Saying "What would this child know". Not many youngsters are given a chance to showcase their talents until much later.. which is really sad.
I love how you make me feel like you're reading me a bedtime story.
It looks like my plunger top
genuine question, wouldnt the filings be dangerous to your hands while you are working it into a bowl?
Мне плохо 😢
Is this some sort of AI voiceover? Choppy and very unpleasant.
you sound like ed that guy who makes denim glasses, in good way
i genuinely hate making bowls with small bases like that. i dont know why but i always manage to knock them over and break them. never happens with any other piece.
Part 2?!?!
Ah. Carnivore clay
